How were the kids killed?

So far we know that the children were sacrificed on slabs of rock in a hidden cave, but how did they die? I assumed a head injury based on Jade and Tabitha's daughter, but now I'm curious. Has there been any clues I've missed that allude to the style of sacrificing?
