CBT vs other modalities?
l think he says in general that psychotherapy today is filled with gimmicks and don't know if he referring to CBT.
I am a third year psychology major and l have been reading the book:
"Psychotherapy isn't what you think" - James F.T. Bugental
in the book he says that Psychotherapy today is like a gimmick that it focuses on giving the patient a band-aid to fix their problems and that real change comes from enlarging the view of the client, making them feel more, etc etc, he also mentions that during the session the therapist must focus in the present (this idea l really like)
but l feel that CBT is a good and that it works and the research supports it, you as therapists what do you do in your sessions?
When you do use CBT do you find that the client relapses?
is it CBT initially to help the client cope then getting to root cause and fixing it?
What do you think about the way psychotherapy is practiced today?
