“Somewhere, the Sky Misremembered Me”
I told you about the window, but maybe it was you who showed it to me. It doesn’t matter— the reflection left before we could ask whose it was.
Someone said your name and my throat ached like it remembered something. Or maybe I was just nearby when someone else’s memory happened too loudly.
The light touched the table and we agreed not to speak of it. That agreement might have been yours, but it had my signature or something close enough to pass.
Time blinked. I stood where I had never arrived and watched someone leave with hands that looked like they knew me.
Later, or before, we folded a map no one had drawn. It didn’t lead anywhere, but it forgot us convincingly.
There was warmth, I think. Or maybe just a temperature between moments that didn’t connect.
Anyway, I’m not sure this happened. But I’m certain it’s already over.
