I'm trying to work with a store to get a partial refund, but they told me to wait until the dispute protection period is over. What should I do?

Basically, I'm trying to work with a store to give me a partial refund which im fine since I like the store. They said they would send me the money but I have to wait until dispute protection period is over. Should I work with them or go through AliExpress?
