Phoenix Down on Wonderswan Color FF edition after 24 years

👾Retro🕹️

In 2001, I bought a Wonderswan Color Final Fantasy Edition from Japan shortly after it released there. My friend owned a gaming-store back then and he used to import a lot of gaming hardware for me.

It sadly never saw much use - the game being in japanese didn't help. So it sat around as just a display-piece among my collectibles for the past 24 years. I thought the birth of this subreddit is the perfect reason to try and revive this device and share some images with all of you... a video of it working will be at the end of the post :)

It was ded! No wonder since I left the battery in it, so that leaked and completely corroded. But no electronics were harmed and everything else was still working, so a proper cleaning and a new battery was all it needed to spring back to life. It even had my savegames still!

Man, no backlight, just a contrast slider… brings back GB vibes. How did we even play on these during daylight?
