Watching the How We Made Your Mother podcast. They are on episode 10. Carter and Craig said that the extra scene of how the Pineapple ended up in Ted's room is non Canon. They think it's better as a mystery.

They also said its an episode where they wanted to escalate the Ted/Robin relationship.
