AITA for kicking my friend out of our group project after she didn’t do anything and still wanted credit?

Hey Reddit,
I (16F) go to a pretty competitive high school, and we just had a huge group project in U.S. History that’s worth like 60% of our grade. I was in a group with my friend Rachel (16F), Lena (16F), and Dani (16F). We had three weeks to research, make a presentation, and write a report.

From the start, Rachel barely did anything. She said she was “super busy” with cheer and a family thing (which, okay, fine), but then I’d see her posting TikToks and hanging out with people on weekends when the rest of us were working. We texted reminders, made a shared doc, tried to include her. she just didn’t show up or contribute.

Three days before it was due, she asked me to send her the final doc so she could “add a few things and be part of it.” I was honestly over it, so I said no, and I told the teacher what had happened. The teacher said it was fine to remove her name from the project if she hadn’t contributed. So we submitted it without her.

After the grades came out (we got an A), Rachel confronted me at lunch in front of everyone. She said I was a bad friend, that I should’ve “covered for her just this once,” and that I made her look lazy in front of the teacher.

I told her I was her friend, but that didn’t mean she gets a free ride. Now a bunch of people are calling me petty and saying I’m too "serious about school." Even Lena says I could’ve given her a small part so she didn’t get a zero.

So… AITA for kicking Rachel out of the group and not giving her any credit on our project?
