How would you describe your personality outside of your OCD?

Discussion

Do you think your OCD developed against your personality traits, or your OCD developed intertwined with / as a result of your personality traits?

For me, I feel like I’m a pretty rational person, especially in the past few years I’ve developed an “whatever will be, will be” attitude (not like a defeatist one, but like I feel like I should just let things happen because the universe has more in store for me, at least I like to think so lol). So even when I get compulsions for example to go back and check if I’ve locked the car a second time I’m just like “whatever lol” and don’t worry about it.

But I’d also say I’m a bit of a perfectionist even without my OCD, like I like everything to be in place and “aesthetic” if that makes sense. Growing up I used to obsessively hoard all the time cause I was emotionally attached or thought I may need stuff just in case, but now I meticulously go through things I own, my social media accounts, photos and clear out basically everything lol. I definitely think my OCD can get ahold of that especially when it comes to editing/deleting reddit posts and changing up my instagram due to my fear of being perceived, but it at least aligns with my values of tidiness
