Why not try to save them?
Just finished binging the show. Partway through the first game as well. Why didn’t Ellie attempt to save Mel’s child? I know that she was scared shitless. I also know that it would be wild and unrealistic if she succeeded and if the baby lived. I mean I had a c section a year and a half ago and that shit was wild, I’m sure you have to be VERY trained.. But who is Ellie if not a bit wild and unrealistic? As Dina said she’s a crazy girl. She sticks out her neck to save kids and steps into situations that are stupid without thought if it’s the right thing to do. In my head a girl like that would cut into Mel the second Mel died. I’m sure Ellie would have failed, but she could’ve then told herself she did all she could. Maybe it’s just that I really relate to Ellie and I can’t picture myself not trying even though I’d be sure I’d fail, but that moment felt odd to me after Ellie has been shown to always act on things. And it’s an easy moral situation, either Mel is dying or dead, Mel gave consent and begged, and if you fail then the baby would’ve died anyways.
