Spider-Man doesn't deserve to be as bad as he is.
Hold on, hold on, slow down. Before you freak out over the title of this post don't downvote this post into oblivion, I want people to hear this.
So, Spider-Man, a VERY polarizing character. Some people say he needs nerfs, other people say he needs buffs, while most people think he's fine as he is.
Well, I disagree with him being fine as he is, because he's not. Why is that you may ask? No, it's not because he needs movement speed buffs, no it's not because he needs a one-shot combo. It's because his damage is terrible.
Now you may think that his damage is fine, I VERY much disagree. His damage is so easily outhealed to the point where you're literally just wasting cooldowns on a target.
Now I'm not saying Spider-Man needs insane buffs to the point where he's broken like s2.0 Iron Fist, no, not at all.
All I'm asking for, is fairness.
Yes you heard me, Spider-Man is an unfair character to play. You have to spend 10's of hours having to master his movement, combos, and on top of that you need both game sense and aim.
So you'd think that a character that's almost unarguably the hardest character in the game to play would be pretty high reward, right? No. Not at all.
His combos are so easily outhealed it's not even funny, which is unfair as hell don't you think? You spend so many hours getting good with this character and you know what you earn? A character who has no damage.
As I said earlier I don't want him to be broken, I just want him to be a good character. I know many of you may think that he's broken because of his movement speed but you know what? I'm not afraid to say the truth. You're wrong.
Sure, Spidey may terrorize low elo lobbies. But as you climb the ranks you notice that the character you've poured so much time into earns less and less value as you go higher. To the point where sometimes if their healers are good enough you're completely useless.
It should not be like that, not at all. Let's take a look at Magik for example, she's got good damage. It doesn't get outhealed in a fraction of a second and it's overall pretty balanced. But look at Spider-Man now, has a lot of combos, most of if not all can be outhealed fully within half a second. That really doesn't seem fair as Spider-Man is 100x harder to learn, play, and master than Magik.
Now this isn't a bash at Magik at all, but I don't think it should be this unfair.
What I'm trying to say if it isn't obvious enough, Spider-Man is a high skill/risk character. So he should be high reward, but he's not. He's high risk low reward. But let's look at another character like Punisher. He's low risk and high reward.
Like what? What the hell? Do you not see that as at least a little bit unfair? A character that you can basically pick up on a whim takes a million times less effort to get value out of him than Spider-Man does, a character you have to, like I said earlier, spend a lot of time mastering.
I'm not saying low skill characters have to be completely terrible, no not at all. But it should be more fair, Spider-Man and Black Panther are both high risk characters (fix no reg bug btw) but weirdly enough, they get barely any reward?
Let's look at a non-dps example for a second. Adam Warlock, he's a support. Who actually has pretty low healing compared to other supports, this is the same situation Spider-Man and BP struggle with, they have low damage compared to other dps. Adam Warlock should not have 0 mobility combined with lower healing numbers. He shouldn't. Adam is another character that doesn't deserve to be as bad as he is. He deserves mobility. It's not fair that you have to work 100x harder as Adam than other supports to get high value yet you get no mobility to compensate at all.
High skill/High risk characters deserve to be high reward.
tl;dr: Spider-Man should be high risk/high reward rather than high risk/low reward.
