I killed spider plants, help

My co-worker bought me succulents and a bunch of “impossible to kill” plants like spider plants. Well, I’ve killed all but the spider plants, and those aren’t doing well. It seems like I’m over or under watering, but never just doing enough to affirm plant life. Is there a way to bring the spider plants back? How can I learn to be better at plant care?
