Want a Dog but I Live in a Flat and I don't know the expenses I'm on tight budget— Which Breed is Best and How Does This Whole Thing Work?
Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about getting a dog recently. I live in an apartment (flat), and I don’t have a huge income right now — but I really want a loyal companion and I’m ready for the commitment.
That said, I’m super confused and need some help from experienced folks. I don’t want to make a decision that ends up being unfair to the dog or overwhelming for me.
Here’s my situation:
I live in a 2BHK flat (not too small, not too big).
I think budget varies from breed to breed so yeah
I'm student, so I’ll be around the dog a lot.
I’m emotionally ready, but I’ve never owned a dog before.
Some questions I have:
-
Which dog breed (or type) would be best for my situation — low budget, flat living, beginner-friendly?
-
How does the process of adoption/fostering work in India? Are there people can give a dog for free??
-
Is adopting an Indie dog a good option? Are they low-maintenance? Tho I'm not into street dogs
-
What are the real monthly expenses I should expect (food, vet, etc.)?
Any tips or things I should be aware of before making a move would be really appreciated. Not looking for a trend dog — just a chill, loyal buddy I can care for and grow with.
Thanks in advance 🙏
