Anyone else's pita bread going moldy, like, way too fast?
Hey everyone,
Okay, so I need to know if I'm the only one here or if this is a thing. Lately, my pita bread seems to be on a mission to grow mold before I even get a chance to eat it!
Just picked up a pack of white pitas (the "blue shirt bakery" kind, if you know it) from the grocery store this past weekend. Checked the expiry date, and it says June 15th – awesome, plenty of time, right?
Nope! Opened the sealed bag yesterday for dinner, and two out of the four pitas were already rocking some fuzzy green spots. Gross! 🤢 Had to toss them, which is such a waste of food and money.
What's really grinding my gears is that this isn't a one-off. The exact same thing happened last month with the same brand from the same store. Again, expiry date was fine, but they went bad super fast.
It feels like something's off with either the pitas themselves or how they're being handled before they hit the shelves. I'm curious: has anyone else experienced this with pita bread or other packaged baked goods? Like, they go moldy way before they should, even if the expiry date is still days or weeks away?
Let me know if you've had similar bad luck!
Cheers!
