Dua Bastet! Happenings today
Content warning: medical, childbirth, hospital, emergency ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I live in Texas and my best friend lives in Idaho. We both have rocky relationships with our blood family, and I'm an only child and they have one brother they don't talk to if it can be helped, so we consider each other siblings. I may as well say my sister instead of my friend.
They were admitted for an emergency c-section today after pregnancy complications. Their due date wasn't until August.
They follow the Norse pantheon but we've openly prayed for each other to our own deities many times in the past. I prayed to Bastet best I could in the break room at work, asking for her as Goddess of family, mothers, fertility, and protection, to protect my best friend/sister and to allow their baby to be born safely. I didn't have much in the way of offerings so offered my half-finished diet coke lol
My friend did not feel any pain despite being awake for the procedure, and baby is very premature but he is healthy!
Praise to the doctors and staff at whatever hospital they're in (they're very tired and after letting me know everyone's alive immediately went to sleep) and praise to Bastet for protecting my friend.
In thanks, I put a ton of offerings on my altar - ice water, apple pie whisky, chocolates, and a huge chunk of bread. I'd give her more but I rn out of space! I'll give her fresh coffee and ice water tomorrow morning.
Dua Bastet! I'm an Auntie! I have a tiny baby nephew!
