Feedback/Suggestions regarding CampusScope: An Inclusive Skill-Building & Collaboration Platform for IITK
Main Problems CampusScope Will Solve:-
- Students who don’t get club entry may feel lack of structured opportunities to learn and contribute.
- Freshers have limited/confusing access to welcoming tech spaces.
- Seniors and motivated contributors lack formal roles if not secys but want to help juniors.
- Students struggle to find teammates for hackathons and competitions without club networks.
Features:-
- Open Challenge Hub:- A centralized place where anyone (clubs, seniors, juniors) can post coding, ML, development, research-related etc. tasks and challenges. Clubs often keep tasks secret or exclusive. CampusScope opens doors for everyone to engage with meaningful, structured challenges. Creates an open curriculum that helps non-club students gain skills and confidence.
- Submission & Recognition System:-Students submit solutions (GitHub repos, blogs, notebooks). These are publicly showcased on Insta/Discord/Notion. Students outside clubs build portfolios, gain recognition, and improve their career prospects.
- First-Year Friendly Onboarding Tracks:- Beginner series (e.g., “30 Days in CP”, “Intro to GitHub”) with micro-tasks and badges. Many freshers often don’t know how to start. These tracks give a structured, confidence-building path.
- Schedule of Upcoming Hackathons & Competitions- Maintain and regularly update a schedule/calendar of upcoming hackathons, coding contests, and tech competitions relevant to IITK students. Keeps everyone informed about opportunities they might otherwise miss. Helps students plan participation, form teams timely, and stay motivated by external challenges.
- Teammate Finder for Hackathons & Competitions:- Dedicated channels or pages for students to post skills, interests, and hackathon plans to find teammates. Fosters collaboration, increases participation in competitions, and helps introverted or new students find a “crew."
I’m really keen to know if this idea is practical and useful. Would love suggestions/changes. I want to make sure my efforts don't go in vain. Also open to ideas on including better female participation and inclusivity.
