Charlotte's dog

In SATC Charlotte had a King Spaniel named Elizabeth Taylor, but in AJLT she has a bulldog. What happened to Elizabeth Taylor? I can't remember if they mentioned that it died in the years between SATC and AJLT or if we just pretend she didn't have another dog before the bulldog.
