Driving from Hvolsvollur to Hofn in orange alert

We are currently in Hvolsvollur and were planning to drive to Hofn today but there is orange alert in the area and high wind warning. We are driving a 2WD mid size car with summer tires. Will it be possible to drive ring road to Hofn today? Our accommodation in Hvolsvollur end today and we cannot extend it. We have to check out today.
