Window unit or Portable?

We currently have central air, but my room is located on the opposite side of the thermostat and is typically 5–6 degrees warmer—for example, it might be 70°F near the thermostat but 75–76°F in my room. I use a gaming PC frequently and also work from home at times, so the room tends to get even hotter. I usually have to leave the door open to help vent out the warm air.

We’ll be in this rental for another year and a half. Would you recommend a portable AC unit or a window unit for this kind of situation? I think a window unit may be fine but my uncle is worried about the window unit damaging the window.
