Floating lights captured for almost 3 hours by a security camera in Italy

Sighting

Time: 01/06/2025, from 11:26 PM to 2:26 (Actual time was 12:26 AM to 3:26 AM, but camera is set 1 hour behind — I’ll refer to camera time for clarity)

Location: Countryside, Province of Rome, Italy

At first, no one noticed anything strange. Around 12:13 AM, my uncle and I went out on the balcony after seeing some lights on the security feed. But when we looked with our own eyes, there was nothing in the sky, even though the camera clearly showed two lights in front of us.

We tried shining a flashlight thinking it might be a drone, still nothing visible.

Around 12:33 AM, we started moving the camera, suspecting a lens flare. But the lights stayed in the same spot on the screen and kept “floating” around.

Around 1:10 AM, another light appeared that did behave like a lens flare (it moved with the camera), but these two lights were not affected by any movement at all.

From 12:33 to 2:26, the lights kept floating in place, moving up/down/sideways.

Then at 2:26 AM, the two lights moved right and exited the camera view, reappeared from the bottom, and then vanished almost like a stretched-out line of light disappearing. After that, they never returned.

I’m not an expert in cameras or video, but here’s what I find weird: • The lights were not visible to the naked eye • They did not behave like lens flare (especially compared to a real flare we saw around 1:10 AM) • They were present for almost 3 hours, always moving subtly • They moved on their own and then disappeared extremely fast • I checked footage from previous days, and this has never happened before • At some point we thought it might be a spider web or something like that. We didn’t check right away, but later we did and there was nothing there.

I’m not claiming this is for sure something paranormal, but it’s definitely strange enough that I’d like other opinions, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
