msi 5070 trio oc: No Q-LEDs, no video signal, GPU fans spin – completely stuck on new build

Troubleshooting

Hi all,

I’ve built a new PC and I’m completely stuck – no video output, no Q-LEDs turning on, and I feel like I’ve tried everything. I’m starting to worry that either the GPU or motherboard might be faulty, but not sure.

Full build:

  • Intel Core i7-14700KF
  • ASUS TUF GAMING Z790 PLUS WIFI
  • MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Gaming Trio OC
  • Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz 32GB (2x16GB)
  • Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE
  • MSI MAG A850GL PCIe5 (850W, 80+ Gold)
  • WD Black SN770 1TB NVMe
  • Mars Gaming MCV4 XXL case
  • 6x ARCTIC P12 PWM A-RGB case fans

What’s happening:

  • PC powers on. All fans spin, including CPU and GPU. GPU RGB lights turn on.
  • No image on screen ("No signal detected").
  • I’ve tried both DisplayPort and HDMI directly to the GPU (not the motherboard, since the CPU has no iGPU).
  • No Q-LEDs turn on at all, not even briefly. The white VGA LED never lights up.
  • Monitor and cable confirmed working.
  • No beeps (I don’t have a buzzer).

What I’ve already tried:

  • Reseated GPU, RAM, CPU cooler, cables.
  • Reset CMOS (removed battery for 5+ mins).
  • Booted with 1 stick of RAM (A2 slot).
  • Disconnected SSD and all case fans/ARGB headers.
  • Verified 12VHPWR cable fully inserted into GPU from PSU.
  • Tried different DisplayPort cable and different monitor.
  • GPU fans spin, so it’s getting power, but still no signal.

I’m out of ideas and starting to worry about a DOA GPU or motherboard, but I can’t test the GPU elsewhere because my other PC is too old. I also don’t have another GPU to test in this new build.

Any ideas or advice would be deeply appreciated – I’m losing my mind over this.
