I am currently in a Swiss airport heading back to the States from my wedding anniversary vacation to Greece. I have been eyeing the medium Ferragamo Hug Bag in this shade of blue for what feels like an eternity. I loved how vibrant it appeared on their website. I had planned to stop into a store at home and take a look sometime.

Then while we were in Athens yesterday, I popped on the Ferragamo Greece website to see if it was available in the boutique and do some EU pricing + VAT refund math. Turns out that not only did the Athens store have the bag, but I would “save” almost $1k buying it in Greece instead of in the US. I called the boutique and they held it for me until I could take a walk over to the store in the afternoon. At this point, even my partner was invested in this journey (I use my own funds for these purchases, nothing joint).

This bag is perfection. It is an exact color match to the website listing. The leather is soft, supple, and finished beautifully. Even the hardware feels exactly how I’d like for it to feel (substantial and with feet!). I was concerned about the bag being wide open on top, but there is a security flap with a toggle and strong magnets as well as a center zipper compartment. The staff there were so lovely, and I had a very relaxed experience. 10/10, would recommend.

And so, now I’m that person going through airport security with my brand new bag in its dustbag, because as my partner pointed out, no way was I putting this baby in a bin without protection! (No one batted an eye, for what it’s worth.)

Thanks to everyone who left such detailed reviews and photos here, they really helped! Cheers!

I now own a Hug, and it’s the most perfect bag ever.
