Feedback on session with coworkers?

Seeking Advice

We have 50 minutes to work with and people ranging from new beginners to intermediate experience (5ks, OCRs), so I tried to design something that would be whole-body and done in circuits. I did the exercises in pairs so they would have some rest time for muscle groups and could wait on each other for additional rest. I also included an active mobility warmup esp for the new folks.

Unfortunate constraint is we really don't have any way to do vertical pulling exercises, but we have vertical posts and I thought we could at least use those for some light horizontal pulling and grip strength.

The colleague that has been leading classes previously thinks it has too many exercises. I figure they're probably right so I was curious what feedback you might have too?

This is the original plan:

Equipment:

  • ropes (substitute for resistance bands atm)
  • mats (optional)

Meet downstairs (allows for some late folks)

10 mins Mobility work (10 reps each)

  • knee raises
  • front kicks (alternate low / waist)
  • side knee swings
  • side kicks (alternate low / waist)
  • squats (alternate halfway / full)
  • squatting sky reaches
  • toe raises (1/up, 2/pause, 3-4/down)
  • leg balance clock taps (alternate high / low)
  • standing row rope pull-aparts
  • standing straight-arm scapular pro/retraction rope pull aparts

10 mins walk/jog to park

20 mins loops (all in one group, working in pairs alternating, 3:00/1:00)

  • 5 ea rows / 5 ea shrimp (bent knee) squats
  • 8 prone scapula W/V / 8 pushups
  • 8 glute bridges (keep hips tucked) / 8 seated leg raises
  • squat hold / 10 shoulder taps each shoulder
  • post active pull hang / 5 hip airplane per leg (switch arms when partner switches legs)

10 mins walk/jog cooldown

I was thinking of simplifying it like this:

Remove this from the mobility work (I wanted to do some shoulder stuff since these folks work at desks all day but they might be too complicated?)

  • standing row rope pull-aparts
  • standing straight-arm scapular pro/retraction rope pull aparts

And alter the main sessions to have more familiar exercises. The glute bridges and hip airplanes are going to be the only new exercises.

  • 5 ea rows / 5 ea lunges
  • 8 prone scapula W/V / 8 pushups
  • 8 glute bridges (keep hips tucked) / 8 seated leg raises
  • squat hold / 10 mountain climbers
  • burpees / 3 hip airplane per leg

What do you think? I'll ask my colleague as well to elicit their feedback.
