What major should I declare?
I just finished my freshman year at an LAC and am planning to transfer after my sophomore year because my current school doesn’t offer a Finance major, which is what I really want to pursue. Right now, I’m thinking of declaring Economics as my major since it has a strong analytical focus and will help me prepare for Finance later on. Plus, I need a declared major to be issued CPT (i'm an international student)
When I transfer, I want to major in Finance and maybe double major with Economics or another subject. My ultimate goal is either to go to business school and work in finance or go to law school and become a corporate lawyer. Because of that, I’m also trying to figure out what double major or minor I should pick here while I’m at my current school to best prepare myself. I’m considering Business Management, Political Science, or Data Science, but I’m not sure which would help me the most with internships, transferring smoothly, and getting into grad school.
Also, I’ve been wondering if it really makes sense to double major in Economics and Finance once I transfer out since they’re pretty similar. Maybe it’s better to pick something different to broaden my skills and options. I’d really appreciate any advice you have on which path might be best.
