First newborn bath?

Not meaning for this to sound stupid- but when did you give your newborn their first bath? Did you bath them immediately at the hospital? Did you wait a week? Did you wait until the umbilical cord stump dried and fell off? What were your reasons for waiting / not waiting (e.g. benefits for bubs skin barrier, etc)?

Due with my first baby next month and I am hearing SO many different opinions on when the right time to give the first bath is. Just wanting to hear a few more opinions and maybe some research to support your reasoning!
