Is Pelican 1 basically an AWACS for the team?

Noticed recently that Pelican 1 is the one specifically telling you things during the mission. How much time is left, whether a reinforcement is needed, notice of map hazards, etc. So it got me thinking. Each helldiver has their own Super Destroyer, with its own Democracy Officer and its own Eagle 1, but there is only one Pelican 1 in the mission, the one from the lobby host's Super Destroyer. Likely your ship's Pelican 1 is only operating in the mission if you are hosting, meaning the other 3 are basically on standby.

So here's my head cannon: what if instead of just waiting around in the Super Destroyer during the mission, Pelican 1 is acting like an AWACS for the whole squad? He sits above the map out of range of any attacks, providing map data to the helldivers' arm pads, observing the map, and providing info to the team. while also coordinating the 4 super destroyers and 4 Eagles. I think it would make a lot of sense, and it's something that most modern militaries have for any mission that requires a lot of coordination.
