Dog butt smells

Hi there folks..Our female dog 11 month old lab/ridgeback has been spayed 17 days ago..About 3 days ago her butt started to stink(metallic smell) and she licks her butt.I will be calling a vet today(we had state holiday and vet wasnt working for few days). Now after googling, all this points to anal glands.Her stools are solid, only thing is licking.Now I was wondering if this could be related to spaying, since hormonal changes happen and stuff..Anyone had this issue after spaying?..Also I noticed it doesnt smell all the time..like yesterday she wasnt smelly, this morning i could hear her licking and it was..Since its my first dog i want to cover all the basics and want to know is this normal...Do dogs need to be taken to vet everyonce in a while to take care of her glands? Also her behavior didnt change .she is playful, she isnt schooting, only licking.
