Character concept: Xevlin, Zevlor's chaotic little brother

This idea popped into my head yesterday and I'm making this post for later to try out this character as a build when I get off work in a couple days. I've already pictured and envisioned the perfect look for this one too. If anyone's interested I will give updates soon as I am off work and can get started on creating this awesome character.

Enter Xevlin (pronounced Sev-lan), Zevlor's chaotic little brother. Unlike Zevlor, who lead the highly disciplined and militaristic Hellriders of Elturel, Xevlin cared little about their affairs, instead opting to teach the family friend tiefling kids how to con, cheat, steal, swindle, and otherwise finesse their way through Faerun.

His justification for this? "Oh, sure, you can either learn how to fight, or you can learn how to get rich, and I sure as Hells know which of the two would be less likely to get me killed!"

Mattis, Mol, Arabella and the other kids grew very fond of Xevlin, and in turn he became very protective of them. Xevlin also had quite the crush on Alfira, who was inspired by her musical talents and drawn to her kindness and warmth. First time in his life, someone else was stealing from him, for she stole his heart. Xevlin commonly butted heads with big brother Zevlor, who warned him that he ought to take things seriously and that there would come a time where he would regret shirking his duties and refusing to train in the art of combat and battle strategy.

Sure enough, that time came. Things quickly plunged into chaos and Xevlin found himself trapped in a mindflayer pod, with a tadpole slithering into his head. Realizing now that shit's getting real, Xevlin must combine his trickery and wit, what little combat training he actually retained and his gregarious charm if he wants to survive. And Gods help whoever comes between him and his tiefling family.

And there you have it! Based on the character description I gave him I was thinking of having Thief 3 for that sweet extra bonus action, Fighter 2 for the action surge and the rest into Swords Bard or something, perhaps even just Pure Swords Bard. Pure Swashbuckler Rogue with musical proficiency also seems like another interesting way to play Xevlin. High charisma and dexterity for sure with decent constitution. I am already picturing Xevlin to be vitriolic best buds with Astarion and also finding himself unexpectedly falling for the fiery Karlach.

Hands down he will help the Tieflings any chance he gets, while also trolling Zevlor every step of the way. He'd probably try to finish what Arabella started and steal the idol of Silvanus, but not before clearing every single coffer possible from the grove. I was thinking that Xevlin would be chaotic neutral to his core up until Act 2 where experiencing the shadow curse firsthand will get him to wake up and step up to help Zevlor in keeping all the tieflings safe and securing them a good future in Baldur's Gate.

You can also take a darker turn with this character where, if you make him a dark urge, he would lose his mind after involuntarily killing Alfira, and especially go insane if any of the tieflings you could save were to perish, especially Arabella and Zevlor. In this case he would do things such as slaughtering the druids, and then later on pushing Astarion to complete the ascension ritual and encouraging Gale to achieve godhood to achieve more power.

TL;DR character concept for Zevlor's little brother Xevlin, a mischevious tiefling with a penchant for using thievery and superficial charm to get himself into and out of any situation where he will always come out on top.
