Asking for help reverting Chrome taskbar behaviour in Win 11 latest update

Troubleshooting | Windows

To set things off on a better foot, I already have the taskbar behaviour set to combine taskbar buttons and hide labels, always. It was like this, it still is like this. My issue is with the changed display of windows open when you hover over or click the chrome icon.

It used to be that I'd get a compact list view of all my windows, in a neat compact easy-to-parse vertical list that I didn't have to move my eyes far for. Now the list is spread horizontally from one edge of my wide-screen screen to the other. It is uncomfortable, and it is slow - as in, it takes far more time to scan the list of chrome windows (let's ignore the multiple tabs per window for now) I have open.

How can I revert the taskbar behaviour from icons set horizontally to a vertical list of windows?
