thoughts on merging irl locations together?

long story short, currently working on a horror story that takes place in an irl city, albeit, heavily fictionalized, and the main characters attend a fictional university. but the thing is; there's already two universities (university and college) in this city and there's not a ton of space to insert a third one.

its probably not going to be a huge deal in the long run but... would it be weird to merge the two schools together? its the only thing i'm considering esp since the university doesn't have the specific major i'm looking for. ;w;

additional context: the city and schools in question are, Burlington, University of Vermont & Champlain College
