Missing a first bus but getting on a connecting bus

Let's say you have a trip with a connection (ie. it's broken up into two separate trips, and you have to scan your ticket twice, for each of the times you board the bus).

Is it possible to skip the first trip and successfully board the bus before the second trip?

I'm asking because Flixbus gave me a connection from 2 to 8am, and I'd rather just skip the first trip, take a train to the second destination and catch the bus there.

I know FlixBus usually doesn't let you board at later stops but as this is a connection and the ticket has to be rescanned anyway, I was wondering if it'd be possible.
