Scan dated 5w + 2d, last period puts me at 8w - experiences?

Please tell me your experiences and thoughts, don’t worry about sugar coating it!

tested positive on CB digitals, and FR (not dye stealers but not squinters, they were clearly positive) on May 22nd. Test progression looked fine in the days that followed. First day of my last period was April 4th, had some light spotting for two days on the 2nd 3rd May. My cycles have always varied in length between 28-42 days. Dr drew bloods on 26th May and said she’d call me if there was an issue - no follow up.

I went for my dating scan today and they confirmed via external sac and yolk and then via internal a foetal pole, no heartbeat detected which is not unusual this early. The radiologist explained that I may have ovulated late and that if I had never told her that my last period started April 4th she’d just think it was a super early pregnancy.

I’m cautiously optimistic, but want to hear from others.
