Can't Make Nephew's (Sister's Kid) 2nd Birthday... Need A Good Gift
My sister lives in another state, and I am in the middle of moving. Between the travel and the date of my movers coming, I'm unable to attend my nephew's 2nd birthday party. I am torn to pieces over it. I love this child so much, and it would've been another rare opportunity to see her newborn second son as well, so this is a major loss.
I'd love to get a thoughtful gift, something that will make him happy and also help soften the sting of my inability to attend (for the parents, not nephew... I'm aware he won't notice or remember).
He's a bit of an iPad toddler, if we're being honest, with no judgment at all, but it's something that's picked up on by others and is beginning to show through his actions. I'd love to get him something that leans away from that type of habit and into something that will encourage a little less immediate gratification. Most of his "interests" so far are relative to the shows he cycles through. I say "interests" because, truthfully, he's not a fanatic about the characters or anything as much as he is familiar with them and reacts as such. He's very much still discovering what he may or may not gravitate towards, so in that regard, I don't have many true interests to offer.
My first instinct was a guitar, even though he's not necessarily super into music, but also not adverse to it either- just hasn't explored it yet. I'm not sold on it yet, and would love to hear any other ideas or input anyone has on better gifts or how to build off the guitar!
Thank you in advance for any responses!
