Advice for going into the field?
Hi, thank you to anyone reading. I don't think this is the forum intended for questions like mine but I thought I'd try anyway.
I'm a 5'2, 17 year old woman from Canada looking at going into the trades to become a mechanic. I have a good work ethic, I'm physically active and I can lift more than most of the guys around my size that I've met. I'm also attentive to detail and a good critical thinker with moderately high grades (not that those matter too much here.) I have one year left in highschool now and with a gap year not being much of an option, I've been looking into all sorts of career options and courses for after highschool (as well as experience I can gain during this year.) I absolutely do not want an office job.
What I'm wondering is if there's any advice anyone here can give me about the job itself, pay, specific position benefits, long term health impacts and whether or not I'd actually have much of a chance at acquiring a job?
Thank you!
