Vagus Nerve and Gut connection
Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice or shared experiences.
I've been struggling with possible vagus nerve dysfunction for over a year, ever since I had gastroenteritis. It started with diarrhea and a strange dizziness or "drop" sensation, like turbulence on a plane.
Although the infection passed, I was left with ongoing symptoms like pale soft stools, dizziness, and heart palpitations. These often happen when I’m constipated, have to go multiple times a day, or can’t pass stools properly.
My key symptoms include: • Sudden internal drop sensations • Irregular heartbeat or fluttering • Brief shakiness, chills, or fear • Bloating and trapped gas • Post-nasal drip and sinus pressure • Fatigue and very sensitive ears
Sometimes these all hit at once, and it’s overwhelming.
I’ve had a full check-up: ECG, blood tests, chest X-ray, ENT exams, and ENT CT scans. Everything looks normal, and my GP is now referring me to a gastroenterologist.
Has anyone had similar gut-related vagus nerve issues? I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions, especially around managing the digestive triggers. Shall I focus on healing my gut? Shall I ask for different tests or referrals?
Thank you so much 💛
