Hey everyone,

I recently bought a prebuilt PC from a system integrator. I’m not super experienced with building PCs myself, so I went the safer route and had it assembled professionally. It came with an ASUS ASTRAL RTX 5090.

Shortly after setting it up, I noticed the 12VHPWR connector on the GPU blinking red under load. It happens during stress tests like OCCT or Kombustor, and even sometimes right when launching games like Cyberpunk 2077.

I checked GPU Tweak and HWInfo and saw some of the individual pins drawing over 10A and 100W, which doesn’t seem normal at all. I’ve tried unplugging and reseating the 12VHPWR cable both at the GPU and PSU ends (very carefully, fully clicked in). After doing that, the issue sometimes goes away. I can run long stress tests with perfect, balanced power draw and no red light. But then the next day, it’s back again. Nothing in the system changes in between.

I contacted the support team from the company I bought the PC from, but they basically just said "yeah, that’s normal. The card does that sometimes." Honestly, that doesn’t sound right to me, especially with a card this expensive.

So now I’m stuck wondering:

Is this actually normal for the ASUS ASTRAL 5090?

Could this damage the GPU or PSU over time?

Is there any permanent fix or prevention?

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I’ll include screenshots of the sensor readouts when it's acting up and when it's working fine.

Thanks in advance – any help or ideas would be really appreciated!
