Tried to put Sapphire Blue by Ion over my faded green hair and it turned a dark grey

Hi I'm looking for advice, I was trying to make my grown out tips a dark blue but for some reason I listened to the lady at Sally's and she told me a 20 vol developer and Sapphire by Ion would just cover it and still be blue. Well it turned kinda a dark blue grey.

Attached I have pictures of the color my hair was prior (green) the color it is now and a picture of the product used.

I guess my question is is there any way to fade this out enough to possibly redye it an actual dark blue? And Especially without lightening my roots in the process as I'm trying to grow my hair out? Im honestly so bummed and wish I'd just redone a green over it but was tired of the stark difference of my dark roots and the green being so faded. Any advice is appreciated thanks a bunch 🤞🏼
