Is it ok to enjoy video games as a Christian adult
My mom has taken my computer away because she believes I play too much and is worried about my future. While I usually play a few hours a day (2-3 hours a day). I’m employed, I work in retail being payed below average to be honest.
I’m a bit lazy when I comes to chores because I don’t have a high maintenance compare to her and I have ADHD and I tend to forgot wether from work or wanting to keep to myself. I will admit and I’m not proud of being selfish at times, but sometimes my mom comes down at being very OCD at times and can be very emotional at times compared to me and others in my family.
She told me she probably won’t give me my computer back until I move out of her home. Whether this will stand true in the future or not, I don’t know. I had a rough childhood, having been builled for years in school and never got help from the school system, and had been builled by some in my family, my mother going through two divorces with my father and step father, and having to deal with loneliness throughout my life since I was always a outcast.
Since I lost my computer it’s been hard to deal with stress, depression, and my anxiety. I was told by my mother, my grandmother, my close family friend and told me I have to find other ways to cope my stress. Whether it comes from painting, exercise, reading, and pray most importantly. Yet many times it’s not enough to calm me down without lashing out my anger in a bad way.
Perhaps my suffering will bring some sense of clarity and true fulfillment in my path with Christ, but even still I’ll always have a soft spot for video games in my heart. Perhaps I can use my hobby for great things for others and god as well. Could anyone post something to help me and others to clarify.
Thank you for reading my post. God Bless.
