whats the music band scene at vit ap

so i just went through vit's cultural ig page and saw a post for vitopia 25 , asking for bands to participate .however at the actual event only 2 bands participated even at the western music club account the various bands were only singing mainstream hindi songs or unistimulating common pop songs by ed sheeran /justin beiber like eww man what taste in music is that and i noticed that the major emphasis was on the vocals completely disregarding the other instruments (i saw a post regarding singing auditions and not for other instruments ) like where are my metal /rock/jazz/blues brothers /sisters at ?? i might join this year so i need to know beforehand
