Sped question

Hi I am in the process of taking an alt route to get my teaching certificate in a masters program I chose 1-6 generalist sped route, but I'm having doubts as I like working with older kids too (current para) if I get my certificate to teach sped 1-6 could I eventually switch over to 7-12? What would the process be?
