Independent play outside?

Please be kind. SAHM and FTM. I play with my child inside and include him in helping me do chores, etc. when he gets bored of helping me, he will either get out books to look at or play with his toys. But when we go outside - which is a lot w it being summertime - I tend to catch myself sitting down instead of playing with him. When he wants me to do something with him, he will tell me. But for the most part, he entertains himself with me talking to him from the patio. Does this make me a bad mom? Any fun activities I can do with him outside?? Some of the ones I’ve found on Pinterest seem very over the top.
