Am I doing Bob wrong or just unlucky?

Currently I've been grinding at Bob for awhile and I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong. Currently, my alt is on the cloud island attached to a rainbow, and I'm on the island connecting to Slapple Island. My replicas track my alt and fall off, but do I need to be closer to spawn Bob"
