Cold cut ordering etiquette
Went to our local deli yesterday to order some cold cuts. Asked for a pound of the boars head honey turkey sliced thin. The guy pulls out the ass end of the turkey for the slicer. You know, the small part at the end that it more skin than meat and the slices come out super small. I politely ask for him to slice a fresh one. He looks at me like I stabbed his mother and says “but I’ll have to crack open a new one” so I say cool, I’ll wait. He mutters some shit under his breath, grabs the new package, and proceeds to slice that thing like he’s imagining it’s my head. Pure rage. Question — what did I do wrong? It was after the breakfast rush and before lunch. They were nearly empty. Did I violate some deli meat golden roll here?
