Campaign Setting
In the world of Xendralis (working name- might change)...
On the continent of Trivastia.
There lives a small town nestled between the Shaleflow River and Glenshale Mountains.
The town of Glendoor.
The door between the jagged mountain scape and ever-flowing river.
Glendoor may be just a small town but it holds an important role for the province of Evervale.
As the only town you'll find within the expansive Glenshale Mountain Range it connects the inland city of Avenstal to the oceanside trading post town of Fjalden.
Over the decades Glendoor and the Shaleflow River have been built to accommodate trade and travel.
The Shaleflow has been widened and groomed over the years to make river trade and travel safe and profitable.
While Glendoor has become a hub for travelers to rest and restock on their journey up or down river.
This has made the small town quite profitable.
And the locals are pleased to accommodate new visitors- Especially aspiring heroes not yet aware of their roles in the coming age of... Well that is for you to decide.
___
The Continent of Trivastia (Map still work in progress in terms of vegetation, rivers, hills, etc)
But for the most part this is it!
A continent historically made up of 3 regions...
- Evervale: the main central region
- The Luminara Coast: Southwest
- Auroraheim: The North
And lastly
- Atreä-To: On the brink of secession from Evervale this is the region of the East.
That is the continent.
But where we start is here...
Glendoor (Center image)
___
Players will begin the game in Glendoor- either starting there after spending the night in the tavern or arriving by river boat.
The Shaleflow River has been groomed over decades to accommodate travel and Glendoor is the only town in ~160 miles.
The town is built up on a rocky river bank within the mountains.
It's a fairly small town- in terms of population. Which is mostly Gnomes, Dwarves, Goliaths, and Orcs but because of the large amount of traffic that comes through it would be easy to say other species have made this place their home.
___
Glendoor is built for travelers to rest and or trade on their way through the Shaleflow.
There is an inlet built into the river for boats to dock and undock with less worry about the current.
There are craning mechanisms stationed by the docks to help load and unload boats.
Most travelers are citizens of Evervale but it's not uncommon to see folks from the Luminara Coast or other nations coming through- though those folks might keep that information to themselves.
There isn't a formal "guard" here but the town is very much united and they work together to keep everyone safe and happy.
A lot of the Goliaths stand watch near points of interests- ready to stop any ruckus before it can become an issue.
___
The most important aspect of Glendoor, however, is its Shale Stone Mine.
Shale Stone, the most valuable resource for "Rune-Binding", is mined and exported here.
And the locals are very keen to keep their most valuable resource safe!
___
What do you think?
I think this gives a lot of potential for quests and intrigue!
