16 Credits First Semester

Schedule

Hello! I’m an incoming transfer student and I’m a little scared about my fall schedule. I’m not very good at adapting to change and new environments quickly, so going to UF as well as moving homes is going to be a lot and I really don’t want to bite off more than I can chew and spiral academically, which I have a bit of a history of doing.

My dilemma is that the 16 credits are only coming from 4 classes— which really doesn’t sound too bad. One is a 4 credit language (Latin), and then two geography/one GIS course. I don’t know how much of a mental load to expect because the classes seem pretty straightforward, though two of them are online which might get annoying. How reliable is the credit hour to expected hours of work conversion? Is 16 credits a lot, or risky to attempt at all? Or will it not be that bad?

Also a second question— I was thinking about taking MAC1147 Summer B because right now I’m only enrolled in one other class that term and it’s online. If anyone has taken it over the summer, how is it? It’s already a fast course I’ve heard so the 6-week term must really exasperate that. But if it’s only one of two classes, it can’t be that bad, right? I’m okay at math, not great, but not bad either.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! :)
