Debunking "console owners don't care about graphics"

If we look at actual console games released (especially the high budget ones) we do see at graphics is very often a very big focus. They wouldn't be putting so much effort into graphics if it didn't sell.

Series X and PS5 pro was made specifically to offer better graphics.

The PS5 pro is actually selling ok despite the high price and the improvement often not even being that significant (much smaller than the difference between series S and series X).

Series S was originally supposed to play the same games with the same features and framerates where the only downgrade would be the graphics, that unfortunately didn't exactly pan out and a lot of the more demanding titles never got a 60fps mode on series S.

When PS5 and xbox series consoles launched there was very little in terms of games you needed those new consoles to outright play. Almost all games still got ported to last-gen but people still bought those new consoles.

Of course with the current gen we also get improvement such as much faster loading times and better support for 60fps on console so it wasn't all about graphics but those other aspect still required the hardware to be good enough.

I am not even sure if console players overall care less about graphics than PC players. People in general like games that are visually appealing regardless of platform.

"But a lot of people play X game that has bad graphics"

Yes because it was appealing to them in other ways, doesn't mean they wouldn't have appreciated the game not looking like shit.

Honestly i think a lot of people on console are simply coping with "i am fine with this bad hardware" (base PS5 isn't exactly bad on that front but series S very much is). Yea i know it sucks to be poor but try to manage your money better so you don't have to play games at 30fps and 360p.
