No drill curtain pole for a large patio window - is it possible?

As per the title, I have quite a large patio window without curtains, blinds or any pre-existing fittings. I've used those expandable poles for smaller windows before, but wonder if this is really viable for a larger window. If so do you have any recommended products? Also, same for curtains - I guess I won't be able to have anything too heavy with an expandable pole, but at the same time I'd like them not to be totally sheer, for privacy. Btw this is a rented property, hence why I don't want the expense/waste of a more permanent fitting. Many thanks.
