I really dislike chapter 4's ending.
I absolutely loved Deltarune 3+4 and had a great time, Deltarune is one of my top 10 games, and of course laughed when I initially finished chapter 4. However, as I replayed it, and thought about the ending more, it really begins to sour. If Toby addresses this as a genuine plotpoint/issue then I'll have no issues with it since it actually does set up an interesting dilemma especially with everything going on with Asgore, but if he *doesn't* address this and plays it off as a joke, it's going to be a permanent stain on the game for me.
Obviously it's funny the first time around, but when you sit down and think about it this scene is extremely insensitive. Kris and Susie just risked their lives trying to save Toriel, just to come home after everything to discover that not only is she fine, but she's drunk and dancing with someone's who's basically a stranger to Kris and Susie. Kris clearly wants Asgore and their family back together, and since we have no idea why Toriel left Asgore in this universe (and considering how hard he's trying to get back with her, and how many times its brought up!) it really doesn't sit well with me.
My other issue here is that Toriel doesn't seem to even care about Kris or Susie. She doesn't ask if either of them are ok especially considering how late it is, and after Susie leaves she still continues to ignore Kris and still shows no interest in either of their well being or what happened.
Susie is clearly disgusted by this since its implied she also has a bad situation at home (lack of food, crying at graveyard, etc) and in the beginning of the chapter she clearly viewed Toriel as a mother figure. Initially she's relieved to see Toriel fine but as she processes what's in front of her, she clearly becomes disappointed, with her eyes disappearing from her sprites, and overall cutting her visit extremely short.
I've seen people say that Kris looks away since they're "evil" or whatever but it's pretty clear they're just embarrassed. From their perspective, they just risked their friends life and their own in order to try and save Toriel (at least, that was their original goal) only to find her drunk at home completely fine. I'm not sure if it's ever explicitly stated but there's a chance the only reason the door was locked was because their music was too loud and they didn't realize the door was locked.
After tearing out their SOUL again, Kris can be seen trying to sleep and even tries to cover their ears with a pillow. This is clearly extremely uncomfortable for them and overall annoying since they're unable to sleep because of Toriel basically neglecting them.
If it weren't for how good of a character he was in Undertale, I'm sure there would be a lot more dislike towards Sans in the general fandom. His only interactions are him pissing off Kris and Susie, making a joke about "befriending your mom," (to a child who clearly has mother and father issues) and now him blatantly trying to get into Toriel's pants. Since this isn't our first time experiencing Sans people tend to view it as additional content to his character, rather than realizing this is *all* his character has to offer in Deltarune. I really dislike him overall so far and hope that he gets genuine characterization.
I want to finish this off by saying that I really do love Deltarune. I had virtually no complaints my entire play through, with this being the only thing ruining my enjoyment of the game. I have a ton of faith in Toby as a writer so especially since we see how clearly this effects Kris and Susie, I have hope that he's going to bring this back up at least to show how it impacts them. My only worry is that he's going to continue to treat this as a joke, which sits really badly with me as it is a really big issue that many people, myself included--have experienced, and ESPECIALLY with how he's handling Asgore in this game.
