Sharing My Naturalization (N-400) Timeline — For Those Waiting Over 120 Days
I want to share my long naturalization journey with those of you anxiously waiting—especially given how unpredictable the process can feel these days in this dynamic environment. My entire N-400 process took about 1.5 years, and I spent just under $10,000, including legal fees, to see it through.
One of the best decisions I made was hiring an experienced immigration lawyer. Having legal representation helped ensure I was treated fairly and respectfully, and gave me more clarity and confidence throughout the process. I understand that a lot of cases can go very smoothly with zero dollars beyond the USCIS fee. However, I still choose the path with a professional legal representative to be my aside.
If you’re stuck waiting past 120 days after your interview, know that you’re not alone—and there are steps you can take. I’m hoping my case help you calm down and look for the good. USCIS is slow and they are buried with hundreds of thousands cases. If your cases did not move forward as quick as you want, it does not mean it will go the opposite. It just mean you need to wait patiently. During the waiting, you have a lot of things that you can do to speed up. However, Mandamus WIRT is the most effective way for my case.
