Insurance payout for roof I don't want to replace

Insurance/Claims

We had a nice storm last week and USAA worked the inspection, claim, and payout in a week. I'd say that's impressive as heck but now I'm in a quandary.

I have a metal roof and it's pretty new. I never expected they would total it, especially because I thought I had waived cosmetic. We had other damage I wanted covered and it was but the roof shocked me.

I don't want to replace the roof because it seems just fine. I've been all over it and even cosmetic is fairly mild. I would genuinely feel bad for ripping it off and wasting good metal.

Can I keep the insurance payout and just acknowledge I don't get the holdback for it? What are the pros/cons?

I assume I'm on the hook completely if it does get totalled in the future but it's a decent metal roof and I expect it'll outlive me. This is an odd situation to be in.
