I finally did it...

...I cancelled my subscription to Max.

The first two seasons were tough enough to watch with all the cringe, but there were tasty bits there too (like Sarita Choudhury) that made me keep hanging in there, hoping the writers would move on from awkward growing pains and finally find their groove. After all, me and my friends are in our 50s but we're not effing idiots.

I almost cut the cord last week with the 'Aidan treating Carrie as a masturbatory aid' plotline, but decided to give it one more episode. I really, really wanted to love this show. There's so little out there for 50s Gen Xers. I needed this show.

I hope the person who speculated that Aiden is exacting a long, drawn out revenge on Carrie is right, because it might be the only way the writers can redeem themselves. Because I swear, if they are going to allow Carrie and Aidan to finally get together after all that we are seeing, then what they're really saying is that women may start out sassy and strong but in the end they must allow men to degrade and abuse (and support/Big$$) them since they aren't capable of making it happen on their own.

Even Seema, despite the incredible acting of SC, gets on my nerves sometimes, the way she's constantly whining about not finding the one. Most of us who have made it to our 50s solo are WAY beyond pouting because we feel like third wheels. It smells to me like men writing parts for 50s women based on assumptions of women in general, or on the fears of 35 year olds.

But either way, I've lost interest and I really just don't care enough anymore. Not even enough to pay the reduced rate of $4.99 per month, Max.

I guess it's true what they say; you can't go back.

RIP Sex in the City.

You suck, AJLT.
